We carry prints from each of our local artists. You can view prints of Sallie Middleton by clicking on her name from the home page. We have a selection of prints by David Horton, and Judy Bynum George.
“Cherokee Landing” Lake Burton-by David Horton.
David Horton graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with Bachelor of Fine Art. He was an illustrator and photographer for “Cabbage Patch Kids” in Cleveland, Ga. and later worked as a graphic designer. However, David’s true love has always been painting. His finished product is a somewhat realistic impression of a simple everyday side of the road scene. David says, “Every passing moment, light, shadow, and atmosphere combine to produce scenes that are so beautiful that they deserve to be recognized and recorded.” These are the moments that David Horton attempts to capture and freeze on canvas.
North Georgia painter Judy Bynum George paints from the local Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountain ranges, as well as the National Forests of Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee while conveying a message of encouragement for fellow travelers. George’s landscapes have become recognizable for their thickly-applied mountains of rich color, identifiable brushstrokes, and playful and inspirational titles.
“I paint using the forms of nature as symbols for expression: pathways, clouds, mountains, sunlight and shadows, flowers, trees, and flowing streams. I also collect titles from everything from rock music to hymns, sermons, movies, books, conversations, and TV; and then paint inspired by both the words and the music. The paintings are a record of my journey, the expression of my deepest feelings for family and friends, and they tell my philosophy: Choose a Path With Heart, Live Your Dreams, and Love Conquers All”.
Judy has served as instructor of painting, drawing and art history at the college level, including LSU – Alexandria, LA & Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, GA. Her work has been featured in some of the Southeast’s leading art galleries, including Abstein Gallery, Atlanta, Bobbe Gillis Gallery, Atlanta, Monty Stabler Gallery, Birmingham, AL, and Corporate Art Source, Raleigh, NC.
